WELCOME TO OUR SCHOOLS
Our communities' schools are OUR SCHOOLS for OUR CHILDREN. New California LCFF/LCAP laws provide that everyone in our community may help to decide how our school district money will be spent to give our children the best possible education.
**IMPORTANT**
Both LCFF/LCAP and ESSA require genuine stakeholder

Superintendent East and former
CBO Cutillo made it very difficult
for stakeholders to identify expenditures, monitor spending,
and maintain vigilant oversight of taxpayer money!
This is a website that tells you all about how LCFF/LCAP changes education. It offers an actual learning course for parents. It is sponsored by the PTA. Great place to begin!
New Superintendent Wanted!
Current superintendent David East is finally retiring at the end of the current 2019-20 school year, after having negotiated a very generous retirement package. RSUSD will be seeking a new superintendent with impeccable character to raise both moral and academic standards in the district. Other administrative personnel who have been closely associated with the corruption tainting local leadership must also go, so there may be a number of openings.
Breaking News!
AN ADMINISTRATIVE PLOY TO LIMIT PUBLIC INPUT?
It would appear that school district administration has employed attorneys for the express purpose of inhibiting the free expression of public opinion, particularly when it may not promote their own preferences. The lawyer “interpretation” of the Brown Act to Board and audience could possibly mislead the Board into restricting stakeholders from speaking directly to trustees regarding each item on the agenda in a timely manner that would allow for thoughtful deliberation by the Board prior to the taking of a vote on that item. LOCAL CONTROL ACCOUNTABILITY PLAN
IT'S TIME AGAIN to take a close look at Reef-Sunset education – how well are our children doing compared with the rest of the State? How well-rounded and engaging is their curriculum? How well are their individual needs met? How friendly and supportive is school staff, and how effective are they in their positions?
Do NOT be distracted from these essentials by talk of “water” or “restrooms” or other side issues. Those particular problems are already being addressed, but the LOW TEST SCORES REMAIN. The HIGH FAILURE AND DROP-OUT RATES REMAIN. THE LACK OF PARENT SUPPORT CENTERS REMAIN.
FOCUS ON THE ACADEMIC ESSENTIALS that directly affect your child’s learning, and refuse to be sidetracked by less urgent issues. Become familiar with meaningful parent resources that enable effective parent participation. DO NOT SETTLE FOR A “VOTE” ON A FEW ISSUES PICKED BY SOMEONE ELSE. MAKE YOUR OWN LIST OF NEEDS BASED ON THOUGHTFUL CONSIDERATION ALL EIGHT STATE PRIORITY AREAS.
New education funding laws REQUIRE genuine family engagement in decision-making, and shared leadership practices.
Please join with others in our community to retake local community control of our Public Schools and give our children a high quality, well-rounded education!
